My Story

Hi there--  I am Alexandria Nicole Viernes, but I go by Lexi :)

I am a Filipino American dancer, teacher, and performing artist from the sleepy coastal town of Half Moon Bay, CA.

My training stems from the Shely Pack Dancers under the direction of Shely Pack Manning. I danced competitively in my adolescent years, winning awards such as Petite, Teen, Miss Dance of California & first runner up to Miss Dance of America through Dance Masters of America Organization. I was the winning recipient of the annual San Francisco Beach Blanket Babylon $10,000 college scholarship, which helped kickstart my dance journey at UC Irvine, where I earned my BFA in Dance-Performance.

During my time at UC Irvine, I worked with Modern dance legend Donald Mckayle as a two year member of his prestigious Etude Ensemble. I travelled to Rome, Italy with Lisa Naugle for research on dance improvisation and performance. I was also a member of the UC Irvine Jazz Insight Ensemble where I worked closely with Dr. S Ama Wray for three years.

Over the years, my dance career has spanned from working as dance captain on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, performing as a ballet girl on Billy Elliot the Musical 2nd National Tour, and freelancing with several dance companies in Southern California & New York. After working with Royal Caribbean, I moved to NYC to pursue Musical Theater and train at the famous Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, and Peridance Studio.

Earlier this year, I was seen on the Symphony Space stage as an ensemble member for Bridesmaids: A Dance Narrative choreographed by Steven Blandino in New York City.

Due to the recent pandemic, I have relocated to sunny California, where I am now based in Los Angeles, CA.

Currently, I am represented by Movement Talent Agency and I am a member of Actors Equity Association. I am a virtual online instructor for Melodic Remedy Dance Studio in San Bruno, and a guest instructor for The Hubbard Collective Fall Series. I do have a fiery love for jazz and lyrical dance choreography, and I enjoy sharing this passion with young artists!

When I am not dancing, I  am a huge lover of social media, pop culture, and writing. I minored in Literary Journalism while at UC Irvine, and wrote blogs for Her Campus- UC Irvine online magazine and San Francisco events company: UpOut.
