My Story
Hi there-- I am Lexi Viernes (she/her).
I am a Filipino American dancer, teacher, choreographer, and creative from Half Moon Bay, CA.
My dance training stems from the Shely Pack Dancers under the direction of Shely Pack Manning. I danced competitively in my adolescent years, winning awards such as Petite, Teen, Miss Dance of California & first runner up to Miss Dance of America through Dance Masters of America Organization. I was the winning recipient of the San Francisco Beach Blanket Babylon $10,000 college scholarship, which kickstarted my dance journey at UC Irvine, where I earned my BFA in Dance Performance.
While at UC Irvine, I worked with Modern dance legend Donald Mckayle as a two year member of his prestigious Etude Ensemble. I travelled to Rome, Italy with Lisa Naugle on scholarship grants to research dance improvisation and performance. I was also a member of the UC Irvine Jazz Insight Ensemble where I worked closely with Dr. S Ama Wray for three years.
Post graduation, my dance career spanned from working as dance captain on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, performing as a ballet girl on Billy Elliot the Musical 2nd National Tour, and freelancing with several dance companies in Southern California & New York City. Currently, I am represented by Jim Keith at Movement Talent Agency NY/LA.
When I am not auditioning and performing, I enjoy teaching and choreographing! From 2021 to 2022, I taught dance education full time at Menlo School in Atherton, CA and part-time at Melodic Remedy Dance Studio. Upon moving to NYC, I joined as a current teaching artist with National Dance Institute, and also teach barre fitness with Barre3 West Village!
